My Offerings
Body Psychotherapy
Body Psychotherapy is a holistic, body‑centered therapeutic approach that integrates body, mind, and spirit. Its purpose is to support healing from within by restoring the natural flow of energy through the five fundamentals of our being: body, emotions, mind, will, and spirit.
Because humans are inherently psychosomatic, the body and mind cannot be separated. In this work, we use the language of the body — breath, posture, sensation, movement, and energetic expression — to address emotional patterns, trauma, and the protective layers that limit our authentic self.
Through subtle and cathartic somatic interventions, we open areas of held or blocked energy, deepen contact with your life‑force, and support a fuller experience of emotional truth. The process increases authenticity, groundedness, self‑knowledge, empowerment, and the capacity to love and be present.
This is both a therapeutic and, for many, a spiritual journey — one that invites you back into your body, your truth, and your wholeness.

Body Psychotherapy is a slow, attuned, and deeply therapeutic process. Just as your patterns, protections, and emotional armour developed over years — often decades — the unwinding, healing, and integration also unfold gradually. This work honours the pace of your nervous system, the depth of your lived experience, and the time it takes to soften, process, and reconnect with your authentic self.
Each session builds upon the last, creating a steady, grounded pathway toward greater presence, clarity, and wholeness. If you feel ready to begin this journey, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.
1hr Session $120
Private / Semiprivate Restorative Yoga Sessions
In a private or semi‑private restorative class, the practice is tailored entirely to your body and your needs. Using bolsters, sandbags, blankets, blocks, and gentle hands‑on support, we create shapes that allow your nervous system to settle, your breath to deepen, and your body to release long‑held tension. This work is ideal for those navigating stress, burnout, chronic pain, or simply craving deep rest. The pace is unhurried, the space is safe, and the outcome is a renewed sense of ease and inner steadiness.
If you’re interested in working together for a private/semi‑private Restorative Yoga session, let’s begin with a short phone call to explore your needs and see what support feels right.
Feel free to book an initial phone call via, email and send me your best days / times to call: alexandra.bodywisetherapist@gmail.com

Why Is the BackMitra® So Revolutionary?
The BackMitra® looks simple — but its impact is profound. Unlike many tools that rely on force, intensity, or complex technique, the BackMitra® works through gentle traction, precise pressure, and mindful positioning to create space along the spine and soften deeply held tension patterns.
What makes it revolutionary is its ability to:
target the thoracic spine, an area notoriously difficult to mobilise
decompress the spine without strain or effort
support nervous system down‑regulation
improve posture in a way that feels natural, not forced
create noticeable change in just a few minutes
be used safely by almost anyone
support the low back, pelvic girdle, and pelvis by improving spinal alignment and reducing compensatory tension patterns
By restoring mobility and balance through the mid‑spine, the BackMitra® helps the lumbar spine and pelvis function with greater ease, stability, and freedom — making it a powerful tool for anyone experiencing lower‑back discomfort or pelvic tension.
It’s a therapeutic bridge between yoga, somatics, and modern movement science — and once you feel the difference, you’ll understand why so many people call it life‑changing.
-
The BackMitra® is designed for real bodies living in the modern world — not just yogis or athletes. It’s for anyone who wants more space, ease, and freedom in their spine.
Perfect for:
People with neck, shoulder, or lower‑back tension
Desk workers, students, and anyone who sits for long hours

I recommend the BackMitra® because I’ve seen — again and again — how profoundly it can change the way people feel in their bodies. For many of us, the spine becomes compressed from years of sitting, stress, bracing, and simply trying to keep up with life. The BackMitra® offers a gentle, intelligent way to unwind these patterns without force, strain, or overwhelm.
What I love most is its simplicity. You don’t need strength, flexibility, or experience. You just lie down, breathe, and let the tool do the work. Within minutes, the spine begins to soften, the breath deepens, and the nervous system shifts toward ease. Students often tell me they feel taller, lighter, clearer — as if they’ve been given their body back.
As a teacher and somatic practitioner, I value tools that are safe, effective, and accessible for all bodies. The BackMitra® supports the thoracic spine, low back, pelvic girdle, and breath mechanics in a way that complements yoga, physiotherapy, somatic therapy, and everyday life.
It’s a tool I use personally, teach with weekly, and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone wanting more space, freedom, and comfort in their spine.

Do I need experience to use the BackMitra®?
No — it’s suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners. I’ll guide you safely in class.
Is it safe for people with back pain?
In most cases, yes. The BackMitra® is gentle and supportive. If you have a diagnosed condition, check with your healthcare provider first.
How often should I use it?
Even 5–10 minutes a few times a week can make a noticeable difference. Many people use it daily.
Can I travel with it?
Yes — it’s lightweight, compact, and fits easily in a suitcase or carry‑on.
Do I need the pillow?
The pillow adds comfort and adaptability. It’s especially helpful for beginners, seniors, or anyone with a sensitive spine. But it is based on the individual if needed.
Will I learn how to use it properly?
Absolutely. My Friday Online Hatha Yoga + BackMitra® + SMFR class is the perfect place to learn, explore, and receive guidance. Depending where you are located I may also be able to refer a local studio class either with myself or one of my graduates.
Is it only for yoga?
Not at all. It complements physiotherapy, Pilates, somatic therapy, breathwork, and general wellbeing.
